This article is for the new STQRY Builder (Beta). Using the current STQRY Builder? See Media instead.

Every item in the media library has details you can edit, such as its name, tags, caption and file. To open an item, click its name in the media library. It opens on the Details tab.

An image item open for editing, with its file preview, the Replace button, and the Attribution, Caption and Description sections.

Details for each type

Type Details
Image, Animation Attribution, Caption, Description
Video Thumbnail, Soundtrack, transcription
Audio Transcription, Thumbnail
Web video, AR Thumbnail
Zip package, Data file The file only

Every type also has a name, shown at the top of the dialog, and Tags:.

For images and animations:

  • Caption: shown below or on the image in your app.
  • Attribution: credits the photographer, artist or source. Visitors usually see it behind an ⓘ icon.
  • Description: read aloud by screen readers, so visitors who can't see the image know what it shows.

Set the focal point

On an image, click the crosshair icon (Show focal point) beside the preview. Drag the circle onto the part of the image that matters most. When the image is cropped to fit a space in your app, the focal point stays in view.

The focal point starts in the centre of the image.

Replace or download the file

Click Replace below the file preview to upload a new file. To save a copy, click the download icon beside the preview. Replacing the file keeps the item's details and tags, and every screen using the item shows the new file.

Add a transcription

Audio and video items have two ways to add a transcription:

  • Manual transcription: type or paste the text.
  • Timecoded transcription: upload a VTT or SRT subtitle file, so the text follows the recording.

Use AI suggestions

Builder can suggest a description for an image, and a transcription for audio or video. Suggestions are usually ready within a couple of minutes of first saving the item.

  • Image: in the Description toolbar, click Vision.
  • Audio or video: click Transcript. The suggestion becomes a timecoded transcription.

The Description field, with the Vision button at the right of its toolbar.

Read the suggestion, then click Insert. If the field already has text, choose Replace instead. Check the suggestion before you use it, especially names and places.

Screen readers read the whole description aloud, so trim the suggestion to what visitors need.
