AI on STQRY: Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to common questions about how STQRY uses AI, what tools are available, and how your data is handled.

How does STQRY use AI?

AI in STQRY is not automatically turned on. AI can be used to make large jobs easier or to help with translations or generating Text-to-Speech audio. We currently use:

• Amazon Polly for Text-to-Speech audio
• Google Translate for translations
• STQRY's own infrastructure for audio transcriptions and image descriptions (currently in beta)
• STQRY Studio Connect for integrating with third-party AI platforms to automate building projects

What if I don't want to use AI?

It's completely optional. AI features are only turned on or used with your consent — you'll never find AI running in the background without your knowledge. For audio transcriptions and image descriptions, STQRY extracts the data automatically to save you time, but you're not required to use it and can always write your own.

Where is all my data going?

You either bring your own AI platform (such as Anthropic's Claude or OpenAI) and use that provider's infrastructure, or use STQRY's infrastructure. Either way, we are never collecting or storing any private data. Your content is only processed to perform the specific task you requested and is not used to train AI models. What if I'm already using AI?

STQRY Studio Connect is built to connect your existing AI platform with STQRY Builder, so you can keep using the tools you already have. See Getting Started with STQRY Studio Connect for step-by-step setup instructions.

Am I being charged for using AI within STQRY?

As of September 2026, all AI tools within STQRY are free of charge. Audio transcription and image description features are coming soon — pricing details will be announced when they become available.

In the future, each subscription plan will include a set allowance of AI usage (called Studio Credits), and additional costs will only apply if you go beyond that allowance — check your plan details or contact STQRY Support for updates. 

If you're using your own AI platform, then there are no additional costs through STQRY and the costs are through your AI platform subscription.

What does the future of AI at STQRY look like?

The future of AI at STQRY will have a more fully integrated AI solution inside STQRY Builder so that you don't have to use STQRY Studio Connect with third-party AI platforms. Any use of AI features will remain optional. We believe that authentic storytelling enabled by AI will help all of our customers deliver great destination experiences.

Can I build an AI chat experience with STQRY?

Yes, STQRY offers an AI chat product that allows you to build AI chat experiences for your destination visitors. The chat experience has powerful guardrails that ground all of the responses AI generates in the source material you provide — so visitors get helpful, accurate answers based on your content. Is my content secure when using AI features?

Yes. When you use an AI feature, your content is transmitted securely and only shared with the third-party provider (such as Amazon Polly or Google Translate) to perform the specific task you requested. No content is stored, retained, or accessible beyond that interaction. STQRY does not use your content to train AI models, and third-party providers are bound by their own data processing agreements. How does STQRY decide which AI features to add?

Every AI feature we build is driven by real customer needs — saving time, reducing production costs, and making content more accessible to international visitors. We don't add AI for the sake of it. Each feature goes through careful evaluation to ensure it genuinely helps tour creators and destination operators deliver better experiences, without compromising the authenticity of their storytelling.

How is STQRY different from other platforms using AI?

Some tour platforms use AI to generate tour content from scratch — replacing the storyteller entirely. STQRY takes a different approach: AI handles the heavy lifting on repetitive tasks like audio narration, translation, and project building, while the creative content always comes from you. We believe the best destination experiences are built on authentic, human-crafted stories — and AI should support that, not replace it.
