- Screensaver: The screensaver, which can be either an image or a video, serves as the initial screen that appears when the kiosk is idle or in standby mode. It can display branding elements, captivating visuals, or promotional messages to attract attention and encourage users to interact with the kiosk.
- STQRY Kiosk screens: These screens are specifically designed to be displayed in full-screen mode on the kiosk device. These screens encompass two types—Screen with hotspots and Web screen. While Screen with hotspots serves as interactive maps, enabling hotspot designation, Web screen offer limitless possibilities. You can integrate web content like a feedback form or a web link into the app.
- STQRY Standard Screens: These standard screens are designed to appear as popup windows within a STQRY Kiosk screen, allowing you to present information, media, and interactive elements in a user-friendly and visually appealing manner.
- Media Files: Within a STQRY Kiosk screen, you can incorporate various media files to enrich the interactive experience. These media files can include images, videos, audio clips, or even AR files.
A typical app design begins with the Screensaver. When users tap the screen, they are presented with the first Screen with Hotspots. From here, you can develop the content further by linking hotspots to other Screens with Hotspots, Standard Screens, or Web Screens. This flexible approach allows you to lay out all content. STQRY is highly versatile in app design, with no limit on the number of Kiosk Screens and Standard Screens you can include.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use the STQRY Kiosk:
Step 1: Upload Media Files
- Access the STQRY builder platform, go to the Content section and navigate to the Media section.
- Select the media files you want to display on your kiosk, such as images, animations, videos, audio files or AR files.
- Upload your media files to the platform, ensuring that they comply with the system requirements specified for STQRY Kiosk. For further instructions on how to complete the media file upload, please refer here.
Step 2: Create Standard Screens under Content
- Under the same Content section, choose the Screen section.
- Create standard screens by adding text, images, videos, or other screen elements.
- Customize the layout and design of each screen to suit your preferences. We currently do not support Location Map, Quizzes and Badges on STQRY Kiosk.
Step 3: Create a STQRY Kiosk Project under Projects
- Move to the Projects section of the platform.
- Click on "Create New Project" and give your project a name.
Step 4: Create STQRY Kiosk Screens, Link Content and Build the App Structure
Within the newly created project, you will find options to set up STQRY Kiosk screens.
Follow these steps:
Add New Screen: click on the "Add New Screen" button at the bottom left to create a STQRY Kiosk screen that will be displayed in full-screen size on the kiosk. There are two types of STQRY Kiosk screens: Screen with hotspots and Web screen. For the initial screen after the screensaver, it is recommended to include a Screen with hotspots, serving as the table of contents for app navigation.
1. Screen with hotspots
- Upload an Image: you can upload an image from the library or upload a new one from your device. Choose an image that suits the content and purpose of the screen.
- Menu Options: On the left-hand side of the screen, you will see a menu with the following options:
- Name of the Screen with Hotspots: customize the screen title to differentiate it from other STQRY Kiosk screens, especially if you have multiple screens.
- Titles: keep or change the Kiosk Project name.
- Background Image: Choose the scrolling setting from the drop-down menu for the uploaded image, such as vertical, horizontal, zoom able, or none, to determine how the background image behaves.
- Hotspots: Use this option to locate and add hotspots to the Screen with hotspots. These hotspots can be linked to various elements within your kiosk project, including Kiosk screens, STQRY standard screens, or Media items.
- Initial Screen: By default, you are working on the initial screen. If you create additional STQRY Kiosk screens, you can change the initial screen to another one within your project.
2. Web screen:
You can also establish a STQRY Kiosk screen as a Web screen by using a web link, HTML, or a zip file. To understand the distinctions, please consult our help article: Maximizing App Engagement with STQRY's Web Screens.
Feel free to create as many STQRY Kiosk screens as necessary to fulfill your project requirements and deliver a rich and engaging experience for your audience. To create more STQRY Kiosk screens, simply click on Add New Screen.
STQRY Kiosk screens can be linked to one another. For instance, a hotspot could be linked to another Screen with hotspots, offering detailed information about a specific exhibit or product. Another hotspot may trigger a virtual tour opening on a Web screen while a different hotspot could open a media item displaying images related to a specific topic.
