STQRY Kiosk allows you to run digital interactive and kiosks on touch screens. The STQRY Kiosk Player is based on standard HTML and Javascript web technologies and should work in most modern browsers. This article outlines several approaches to deploying the STQRY Kiosk player on different platforms.

What Platforms are Supported by STQRY Kiosk Player?

The STQRY Kiosk Player has been tested on the following platforms:

  • Windows 10 and 11
  • iOS 12.0 or later
  • Android 8.0 or later
  • Raspberry Pi OS (any modern Linux OS should work)
  • Tizen OS (On a Samsung Flip Pro)

What is Single App Mode on STQRY Kiosk?

For each platform we will explain one way to enable single app mode. In essence, single app mode is a way to lock down the STQRY Kiosk Player. There are many ways to achieve this and depending on your internal IT resources you may have organisation mandated methods. As STQRY Kiosk is based on standard web technologies things should Just Work™️.

Platform-Specific Installation Instructions for STQRY Kiosk

STQRY Kiosk is compatible with various platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and Smart TVs/Tizen OS. Below are installation guidelines for the most commonly used systems.

iOS/iPad OS

The STQRY Kiosk Player is built into our STQRY Fleet app which is available on the Apple App Store.

  1. Download STQRY Fleet from the Apple App Store
  2. Open STQRY Fleet
  3. When prompted enter your Project ID and Token (available in the STQRY Builder)

How to Configure Single App Mode for iOS/iPad OS

The STQRY Kiosk Player can be configured for single app mode using either Guided Access, Apple Configurator, or Mobile Device Manager (MDM). Using an MDM offers the most control and offers remote management, Apple Configurator is a good solution if you only have a couple of devices and Guided access is a quick an easy solution to get you started but not quite as robust.

  • Apple Configurator: Instructions coming soon.
  • Mobile Device Manager: Configuring your MDM is outside of the scope of this document.

How to Configure Single App Mode for Android

The STQRY Kiosk Player can be configured for single app mode using either a single app mode app or a Mobile Device Manager (MDM). Using an MDM offers the most control and offers remote management, while a single app mode app is a good solution if you only have a few of devices.

  •  Mobile Device Manager: Configuring your MDM is outside of the scope of this document. STQRY does offer an MDM solution to allow you to deploy your STQRY Kiosk Player on Android devices. Email [email protected] to get started.
  • Single App Mode App: There are a range of Single app mode apps available on the Google Play Store. STQRY Fleet has been tested on Fully Single App Kiosk, a cost effective single app mode solution ($8.99). Follow the instructions in the app to configure the single app mode.

Windows

The STQRY Kiosk Player can be deployed using our STQRY Kiosk app or a web browser. Using our app is the preferred way.

  4. When prompted enter your Project ID and Token (available in the STQRY Builder)
  5. The project will then configure itself and do an initial sync of the content

Setting Windows to auto login and launch the app is outside of the scope of this document.

Linux

Installing on linux is outside of the scope of this document. However, we have successfully installed STQRY Kiosk for a Chromium based installation using this guideline.

Smart TVs/Tizen OS

STQRY Kiosk is compatible with smart TVs that feature capacitive touch and have a modern browser built in or can be attached to a computer. We have tested limited devices with the Tizen operating system and have found these work well. We suggest testing STQRY Kiosk on the device to check that it works correctly as we cannot guarantee it will work on all smart TV devices.
