How to Create Developer Accounts and Invite STQRY

Created by Glen Barnes, Modified on Wed, 9 Apr at 1:09 PM by Natalie Nguyen

Creating your own Apple and Google developer accounts is a necessary step because both platforms require that apps be published under the account owner’s legal entity. By registering your organization, you retain full ownership and control over your app.

Once your accounts are set up, inviting STQRY allows our team to handle the publishing process and manage app updates on your behalf. This ensures that your app remains compliant with platform guidelines, up-to-date, and easily maintained—without requiring your team to manage the technical side of app deployment.

In short, this setup provides a balance of ownership and support: you own the app, and STQRY takes care of the rest.

In this help article, you will learn how to:

Sign up for an Apple Developer account

To publish your app on the App Store, you'll need to enroll in the Apple Developer Program, which requires a $99 USD annual fee.

Apple Fee Waiver: Eligible nonprofit organizations, accredited educational institutions, and government entities may qualify for a waiver of the Apple Developer Program fee. Learn more here.

Ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • Apple ID: If you do not already have an organization Apple ID, then you can create one.
  • D-U-N-S Number: This is necessary to verify your organization’s identity.

You’ll need a D-U-N-S number to verify your organization’s identity when enrolling in the Apple Developer Program. There are a few ways to look this up:

Use the official Dun & Bradstreet Lookup Tool
Use Apple’s D-U-N-S Lookup Tool (Apple ID required)
Use Illion Express

If your organization is not listed, you can request a D-U-N-S number for free. Standard processing may take up to 30 business days, while an expedited option is available for $229 USD and typically takes 8 business days.

If your company isn't listed, you can request a D-U-N-S number for free. Normal processing can take up to 30 business days. An expedited D-U-N-S service (for $229) can provide a number within 8 business days.
Information You’ll Need:
Legal entity name
Headquarters address
Mailing address
Work contact information

You may also be contacted by Dun & Bradstreet to verify additional information, such as your business type and number of employees.
Legal Entity: Your organization must be a legal entity (not a sole proprietorship).
Website: Your organization should have a publicly available website.
Authority: You must have the legal authority to enroll your organization in the Apple Developer Program.
You can refer to Google's support article here for answers to common questions about the D-U-N-S number.

Step-by-Step Guide to Enroll in the Apple Developer Program

Step 1: Create or Sign in to Your Apple ID

Visit Apple Developer Enrollment and scroll down. Click on Start Your Enrollment to begin the process.

In the following window, enter your Apple ID (the one you plan to use for your Apple Developer account) and click Continue. If you're using a Mac, be mindful that it might default to your personal Apple ID. Double-check to ensure you're using the correct account, especially if you intend to use a new Apple ID for this mobile app project.

If you don’t already have an Apple ID, click on
Create Yours Now
 and follow the steps below.

Enter your name, birthday, email, password, and phone number. Make sure both your email and phone number are accessible as you’ll need them for verification with a 6-digit code.

For the Apple Developer Program, it’s recommended to use a work email that’s accessible by both you and your team members. This ensures continuity if you, the account holder, are no longer working on the project in the future.

Many organizations have lost access to their developer account when staff members left and didn’t provide proper handover information. Make sure to establish a process for this within your team to avoid complications down the line.

After completing the signup process, consider adding multiple trusted phone numbers for account recovery. This is particularly useful for teams. You can follow Apple’s official guide to add more numbers here:
Apple Support - Trusted Numbers.

From the original page in Step 1, click on 'Start Your Enrollment' to go the Apple Developer Program Enrollment site.

The 1st Screen is for the Account Holder's Personal Information. (Do not enter fictitious or general business info as it will get flagged later in the process by Apple and delay the account process)

  • First Name, Last Name, and Phone Number: These should match the information used for your Apple ID.
  • Address: This should be your personal address.

The 2nd Screen is where you will select your entity type:

  • Note: STQRY requires a Company/Organization, Nonprofit, Accredited Educational Institution or Government Organization.
  • If you are a nonprofit, educational institution, or government organization, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Make sure to check for this option during enrollment.
  • An Individual/Sole Proprietor account is Not accepted

The 3rd Screen requires the following:

  • Organization’s Legal Entity Name: Ensure this matches exactly with the name associated with your D-U-N-S number, including any punctuation (e.g., "Oncell Systems, Inc" is different from "Oncell Systems Inc").
  • D-U-N-S Number: Enter your D-U-N-S number. If you don’t have one yet, refer to the D-U-N-S lookup instructions above.

The 4th Screen requires the following:

  • Headquarters Address and Contact Information: Provide your organization’s headquarters address and a valid contact number.
  • Organization’s Website: Enter the public domain of your organization’s website.
  • Legal Authority Confirmation: Confirm that you have the legal authority to bind your organization to Apple’s agreements.

Step 3: Apple’s Review Process and Finalizing Enrollment.

After submitting your information, Apple will begin their review process. Be sure to monitor your email for any additional steps or requests for further information.

Once Apple approves your application, you'll receive an email with instructions to complete your enrollment. Visit the Apple Developer Account page to review and agree to the program license agreement, then proceed with purchasing the membership.

Check your inbox for the activation email, and click the verification link to finalize your account setup. Your account will be activated once the verification is complete.

If you do not receive any response within 5 days then log in with your Apple ID here:   https://developer.apple.com/contact and follow prompts to email or use the convenient Call Back option during West Coast business hours to follow up on the status.

If your Apple Developer membership expires, your app will be removed from the App Store. To avoid any disruptions, we recommend enabling auto-renewal on your Apple account. You can follow the instructions provided here.

Invite STQRY to your Apple Developer account

You are now enrolled in the Apple Developer Program and can start developing and publishing apps on the App Store. To streamline the process, be sure to invite STQRY to your account so we can handle publishing and maintaining the app on your behalf.

  1. Log in to your App Store Connect account
  2. From the homepage, click Users and Access.

  3. Under People, click the Add button (+).

  4. Enter the required information:

  • The first name is STQRY, the Last name is Apps.
  • Email address: apps1@stqry.com
  • Select the user roles. Select Admin

  • Please make sure that you have ticked "Access to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles" and both  "Access to Cloud Managed Distribution Certificate" and "Access to Cloud Managed Developer ID Certificate". This is so we can create and manage the certificates, keys, identifiers, devices, and provisioning profiles that you use to access app services and distribute your app.

5. Click Invite.

Done! We'll receive an email that includes a link to activate the account. We’ll get onto sorting out your app for the stores now!

Sign up for a Google Developer account

To publish your app on Google Play, you'll need to enroll in the Google Play Developer Program, which requires a one-time registration fee of $25 USD.

Make sure you have the following information ready:

  • Public developer name (this should match the name that your Duns # is registered as)
  • As per your linked Google Payments profile:
    • D-U-N-S number  (same as the D-U-N-S listed above)
    • Organization name
    • Organization address

Ensure both your email and phone number are accessible, as you will need them for verification with a 6-digit code.

Many organizations have lost access to their developer accounts when staff members left and didn’t provide proper handover information. Establish a process within your team to avoid complications in the future.

To enhance account security, consider adding multiple recovery methods. You can manage this via Google Account Security Settings to ensure you have different options for account recovery.

Step-by-Step Guide to Enroll in the Google Developer Program

Step 1: Access the Google Play Console

  • Go to the Google Play Console and sign in with your Gmail account, or create a new one if necessary. Keep in mind that the account you sign in with will permanently own the developer account, so choose carefully.
  • Once signed in, select Organization Account and click Get Started to begin the process of creating your Google Developer account.

Consider using a contact email address that is different from the one that you used when creating your Google Play developer account, especially if your developer account has multiple users or is created for an organization or business. You might want to consider setting up a dedicated shared inbox for this purpose so that the right set of people within your team or organization can access these important messages.

Step 2: Provide Your Developer Information

  • Enter your developer name, which will appear publicly on the Play Store alongside your app.
  • Choose to either link an existing payment profile or create a new one. At this step, Google will request your organization's D-U-N-S number for verification purposes. Make sure to double-check the name and details match your organization's legal information.

Step 3: Verify Your Developer Profile

  • Enter a developer email and phone number that will be publicly displayed on your Google Play profile.
  • Enter additional details, including a contact name, phone number, and email for Google to contact you (this information will not be public).
  • Verify the emails and contact phone numbers by entering the 6-digit codes Google sends.
As part of the sign-up process, Google will require you to provide developer identity information, including a valid website. You may need to verify ownership of the website. The verification is done by adding a TXT record to your domain on your domain's registrar website. You domain registrar could be GoDaddy, Namecheap or similar. For assistance, you can consult your web developer or follow the general steps outlined in this GoDaddy article:

How to Add a TXT Record.

  • Accept the terms, then click "Create Account and Pay."
  • Pay the one-time $25 registration fee using a valid credit or debit card.

Step 5: Verify Your Identity

After payment, you'll be prompted to verify your identity. Follow the instructions and upload the required documents.

Google will review your documents, and you should receive a confirmation email within a few days.

Once verified, you will be able to access the Google Play Console.

Invite STQRY to your Google Developer account

You will need to invite the STQRY support team to your Google Play Developer Console to enable us to upload and manage your app. To invite our support team, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Log in to the Google Play Developer Console.
  2. Click Users & permissions in the sidebar

  4. Fill in the email address form. Please invite: apps@stqry.com.
  5. Click Account Permissions
  6. Please select our role as AccountAdmin.
  7. Done! We’ll receive the invite, and we will get onto sorting your app for the store!

You are now enrolled in the Google Developer Program and can start developing and publishing apps on the Google Play. To streamline the process, be sure to invite STQRY to your account and share your Transaction ID with us. This will enable us to manage the publishing and maintenance of your app on your behalf.

In addition, if you are planning to sell your apps or use in-app purchasing then you will need a Google Merchant Account and you will need to fill out the Paid Applications Contract in the Agreements, Tax and Banking section in App Store Connect. Details can be found here.
