Add fields to a form

Fields are the questions on your form. You add them on the Fields tab of the form editor, in Manage Account → STQRY Engage → Forms.

Add a field

  1. Open the form and go to the Fields tab.
  2. Click Add field.
  3. Choose a Kind. You can't change it later.
  4. Enter a Field name. Builder makes a short Slug from it, which is used in exports and links.
  5. Change the Field label if you want respondents to see different wording. It starts as the field name.
  6. Set the switches you need, then click Save & Close.

The Create field dialog with Kind, Field name, Slug, Field label, and the Required, Lock when prefilled and Hidden switches.

The Create field dialog. The Kind can't be changed once the field is saved.

Drag the rows to change the order fields appear in.

Field kinds

Email A text box that checks for a valid email address
Integer, Decimal A number box
Date A date picker
Yes/No Yes and No buttons
Boolean A single checkbox
List A drop-down, or checkboxes if Multiple is on
Rating A row of options to choose from, with images if you add them
Given name, Family name Name boxes that update the person's contact details
Gender, Pronouns Drop-downs that update the person's contact details
Marketing list A checkbox to join one of your marketing lists

The Email, name, Gender and Pronouns fields feed into People. See How form submissions add people.

Options for lists and ratings

List and Rating fields have a second tab for their choices. Click Add option and give each one a Label (what people see) and a Value (what's stored). You can add an image to each option too.

Marketing list fields

A Marketing list field is a tick box that signs the respondent up to the list you choose. Leave it optional so people can choose for themselves. If you make it Required, the form can't be sent without ticking it.

To use one, create the list first. See Manage marketing lists.

Field switches

Switch What it does
Required The form can't be sent until this field is filled in.
Hidden The field isn't shown. Use it to record a value you fill in yourself, like where the link was shared.
Lock when prefilled If the field already has a value from the link or invitation, the respondent can't change it.
Multiple List fields only. Lets the respondent pick more than one option.

Hidden fields are filled in from a share link or email invitation. See Share a form with a link or QR code.

Remove a field

Archive a field to take it off the form. Its past answers stay with the submissions. Turn on Include archived to see archived fields and bring one back.
