This article is for the new STQRY Builder (Beta). Using the current STQRY Builder? See Media instead.

A media item can have details in every language your app supports. Captions, descriptions, transcriptions and Studio Voice text are kept separately for each language.

The name and tags are shared across all languages.

Step 1: Add a language

Open the item in the media library and save it. Then click Add language above the details and pick the language. Type in Search to find it quickly.

The Add language menu open beside the English (US) tab, with a search box and a list of languages.

Builder asks you to save before adding a language, so your changes in the current one aren't lost.

Step 2: Fill in the details

Select the new language's tab and fill in its details. Each text field has a Translate button in its toolbar.

The French Description field, with the Translate button at the right of its toolbar.

To translate a field automatically:

  1. Click Translate in the field's toolbar.
  2. Under From, check the language to translate from. To is the tab you're on.
  3. Click Translate below the Original text.
  4. Read the Translation and edit it if you need to, then click Use translation.

The Translate dialog, translating an English description of the Rideau Canal into French.

You can upload a different file for a language, such as a narration recorded in French. If you don't, the app uses the primary language's file.

Step 3: Save

Click Save or Save & Close. If you switch to another language with unsaved changes, Builder asks before you lose them.

Change or remove a language

You choose an item's primary language when you create it. To make another language primary, select its tab, click the language name again to open its menu, and choose Set as primary language. To remove a language and its details, choose Delete language from the same menu.

The French tab's menu, with Set as primary language and Delete language.
