There are numerous beacon scanning apps available on Google Play and the Apple Store. From our experience, the My Beacon Tester app on the Apple Store and Locate Beacon on Google Play work particularly well, but you’re welcome to use any other beacon app that suits your needs. Below are instructions on how to use these apps to simulate a beacon and troubleshoot pairing your devices with a beacon.

iOS

Step 1:

Download the My Beacon Tester app from the Apple Store to your iPhone.

Step 2:

  1. Open the app.

  2. Select OK when prompted.

  3. Go to Simulator and tap Beacon Off to switch it to Beacon On.

  4. Make sure the app screen remains open and visible on your phone.

Step 3:

  1. Open the STQRY Builder.

  2. Navigate to the Tour Map and click the pencil icon next to the marker you want to set up with the beacon.

  3. Input the following beacon details:

    • UUID: A2FA7357-C8CD-4B95-98FD-9D091CE43337

    • Major: 10

    • Minor: 20

    • Distance: Far

Step 4:

  1. Download STQRY Preview and scan the QR code on the Project overview page.

  2. Access the tour within the app and grant location permission when prompted. Make sure bluetooth is enabled on both devices.

  3. Bring your phone near the device running the My Beacon Tester app. The content linked to the beacon should trigger automatically.
